Meet Me At the Creek!

Creek-y things are happening! Kitchener members of the Creek Collective have been working with classrooms of ytpung people to create mobiles from objects found along Schneider Creek. The results of their creative collaborations are now on view at Inter Arts Matrix in Kitchener, at a delightful exhibition called Meet Me at The Creek. I so wish I could see this in person - but nonetheless, it leaves me feeling hopeful and energized to know that my fellow Creek Collective members are out in the world making work and building community and awareness regarding the importance of treating waterways as neighbours, as part of the community (and not just an exploitable commodity).

More good art-things to come soon for me too - I’ll be heading to Kitchener in March for 10 days, to do some creation/experimentation/gestation under the auspices of Pat The Dog Theatre’s Femme Folks Fest. This will be a deep dive into the creative work of getting my next audio walk together with my Creek Collective Collaborator, Geoff Martin. SO excited to be working on this with Geoff again this year - and doubly so, because we are developing this new work - CHANNEL MIGRATION - as a 14 - station audio walk that will extend the full length of Schneider Creek, from Victoria Lake all the way to Doon, where the Creek joins the Grand River. Keep your eyes peeled for more in this space!
